A first-grade and second-grade program in our preschool provides young children with a strong foundation for their educational journey. The curriculum for these grades is designed to help children develop essential skills such as reading, writing, math, and critical thinking.
Children between 6 and 8 years are engaged in formal schooling. The children spend about 6.5 hours in school. The focus is on English, Mathematics, EVS, and computers. The students are expected to choose one language from Hindi/ Kannada as a second language. Children are exposed to various extracurricular activities like dance, music, taekwondo, abacus, etc.
In addition to reading and writing, a first-grade program may also focus on math concepts such as counting, sorting, and essential addition and subtraction. Children may also learn about shapes, patterns, and measurement. Hands-on activities such as counting objects and sorting by shape or size can help children understand and remember these concepts.
Second-grade students will continue to strengthen their reading and writing skills. They will learn to use more complex sentences, begin to read more challenging texts and expand their vocabulary. They will also focus on their grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Overall, a first- and second-grade program in our preschool setting can provide children with the foundation they need to succeed in their education. With a focus on reading, writing, math, and social and emotional development, children can explore a wide range of subjects and develop the skills they need to thrive.
