A playgroup program is an early childhood education program designed for children between 18 months to 3 years old. A playgroup program aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment for young children to explore, learn, and socialize. The group meets for 3 hours daily from Monday to Friday and is engaged in various Montessori materials.
The program includes various activities, including free play, circle time, storytime, arts and crafts, and music and movement. Free play allows children to explore their surroundings and engage in self-directed play. At the same time, circle time allows children to come together and engage in group activities such as singing songs, listening to stories, and sharing experiences. Storytime helps to promote language development, and a love of books and arts and crafts activities allows children to express themselves creatively. Music and movement activities are also an essential part of the program, as they help to develop gross motor skills and a love of music.
Playgroup programs also strongly emphasize socialization, as they provide an opportunity for children to learn how to interact with others in a group setting. Children learn to take turns, share, and play cooperatively with their peers. They also learn to communicate and express themselves through words, actions, and gestures. The program also focuses on cognitive development and learning. This can include teaching children about numbers, letters, shapes, and colors and basic concepts like size, distance, and direction.
